Hebrew Classes
All courses in the Hebrew program are taught by Chaya Kessler. Chaya Kessler was raised in Israel and earned her BA from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Prior to entering college, she served in the Israeli army intelligence unit during the 1973 Yom Kippur War. While raising a family, she resumed her studies and completed her Masters in History with honors from Youngstown State University.
Hebrew Courses for Fall 2008
Hebrew 1550: Elementary Hebrew
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 am to 12:15 pm
This course introduces the basics of Modern Hebrew. Students will learn the Hebrew alphabet, the writing system (print and cursive), the sound system, simple language constructions, elementary grammar and a basic conversational vocabulary. In addition, students will gain basic knowledge and appreciation for the culture and daily life of Hebrew speaking society. Students will receive four credit hours for this course.
Hebrew 2605: Advanced Intermediate Hebrew
(Time to be arranged with students)
In this class, students will read the book of Ruth in Hebrew - using their basic knowledge of Hebrew grammar to understand this and other Biblical narratives.
Prerequisites: HEBREW 2600 or by permission of the instructor.
